GUHSD Mask Mandate

On Tuesday, January 4th, Glendale Union High School District (GUHSD) declared that all students and staff are required to wear a face mask while indoors on school and district campuses. Only students and staff who require accommodations due to a disability are considered for opting out of this mandate.

This mandate was put into place “to protect students and the community,” according to Principal Latham. In the past, Arizona school districts were not allowed to mandate masks, however, courts shot down that order.

If students come to school without a mask, they will be offered a mask. Thankfully, it seems as though everyone is compliant with this mandate.

In regards to this mandate, an anonymous GUHSD teacher states, “I certainly wish we had this mandate in the beginning of the year, but I’m thankful it is put in place now.”

All in all, everyone has different opinions regarding this mandate, but it is clear that GUHSD is taking the necessary steps in moving towards a COVID-free community.
