Once a month, the world is blessed by the beauty of a full moon. The huge, golden ball beams and lights up the entire sky. Although the full moon is just simply stunning to look at, it also has a variety of other perks that make this magical experience so special. MBG Mindfulness stated, “Full moons happen once a month when the sun’s rays fully illuminate the surface of the moon. The moon has no light of its own, and when the moon is shining at its brightest and fullest, we’re receiving maximum light and vitality as the sun’s rays bounce off of the lunar surface.”
To certain groups of people, the idea that the moon can affect someone both mentally and physically seems extremely silly, however, this idea can be more realistic than others may think. The human body is made up of roughly 60% water and it is proven fact that the moon affects bodies of water. The online website, The Conversation, states, “the Moon’s gravity pulls the oceans towards it. Even though the Moon is so far away, it is large enough that its force of gravity is strong enough to do that.” In other words, if the moon is powerful enough to control an entire ocean, what makes anyone think that it would not affect our bodies which are made primarily of water? As a matter of fact, 81% of mental health professionals believe that the moon does affect the human body,
Now that it is established that the human body does have a direct correlation to the state of the moon, let’s get into how to take advantage of the full moon. To begin with, setting intentions is a perfect way to tap into this new state. What does one want to receive during this intimate time? How will this affect one’s life? What steps need to be taken in order to achieve this goal?
Furthermore, mediating is an ideal way to spend the day of a full moon. Begin by sitting in an upright position, legs crossed. Set an intention. Close the eyes and imagine the moon light shining through the entire body starting at the top of the head. Think about what warmth that this everlasting light feels like. Picture the light filling the body all the way from the head to the toes. Focus on the intention that was set. Breathe in through the nose, and out through the mouth making the exhales longer than inhales. Repeat this process two or three times.
On the other hand, yoga is a splendid way to get in touch with oneself during the full Moon. Some specific poses that are highly beneficial are mountain pose (tadasana), Half Moon (Ardha Chandrasana), Camel Pose (Ustrasana), and Pigeon Pose (Kapotasana). These are all outstanding grounding poses that connect one to the Earth and open up parts of the body that release withheld emotions.
Lastly, manifesting is an ideal way to spend the special night. Manifesting is similar to setting intentions, but does have some key differences. According to Vocabulary.com, “A manifestation is the public display of emotion or feeling, or something theoretical made real. Manifestation’s origins are in religion and spirituality because if something spiritual becomes real, it is said to be a manifestation.” In other words, making one’s own dream become a reality is a form of manifestation.
