With Thunderbird’s 2022 track and field team closing up the season, our athletes had excellent performances at the GUHSD District Championship Meets which were hosted at home!

On Friday, April 22nd, part one of the District Championships, aka the preliminaries, were held at Thunderbird and finals were held for some of the field events. Our athletes pushed their hardest in order to make it to part two of the District Championships, aka the finals. On Tuesday, April 26th, our Titans ran, threw, and jumped their very best and many of our athletes won medals. Elizabeth Stone, senior, participated in several events from the 400 to the 1600 despite coming back from an early-season injury. Additionally, Gage Davidson, junior, qualified for state for the 100m dash. Ellie Bonnette, senior, placed 1st in the 300m hurdles at the Championship meet as well.

The coaches are beyond proud of our performances this season, with Coach Gill and Past saying, “Our athletes have come so far this season and we are so happy to have been able to coach such an amazing group.”

A few of our athletes have qualified for state, so stay tuned to see how they do!
