A Quiet Place Part II

The Quiet Place II released July 13th after the first hit movie in 2018. The new movie starts off at the beginning of the timeline, before the death and destruction occur. With most of humankind being killed due to aliens, the Abbot’s are now trying to find a safe environment and maybe even kill off the alien kind.

Part two takes place after the fathers death, beginning where it took off as a single mother with three children. Keep in mind one of them is a newborn, and the other is deaf. Proving to overcome the challenges, part II showcases the emotional connections of the characters within the movie. ”Because the characters usually can’t talk, story beats and revelations have to be conveyed visually, through cinematic language. And because this is a thriller, everything has a very strict timeline. This genre relies on our understanding narrative turns and the characters’ thinking exactly when a movie needs us to.” (Vulture), the audience’s perspective and emotions all change throughout the movie making it a huge success. A Quiet Place II had many key details behind the main idea, allowing for the audience to understand more and more.

Allowing the audience to see how it began in part II allowed for a tieback to part one, which fans raved about. However, the endings of the movies don’t always seem to go how the audience expects. The abrupt endings allow for a better understanding and development of the storyline. The audience may get to truly understand why and how the aliens came to Earth. As in the first movie the aliens’ weakness was revealed at the end, symbolizing hope…“Both A Quiet Place and A Quiet Place Part 2 end rather abruptly. Sure, they end at sensible stopping points, but there’s still plenty of storytelling Krasinski could do in the compelling world he has created. I’d love to see the story become a trilogy, with a third installment exploring the logical narrative and thematic next steps.” (Arstechnica).

The continuation of a third movie would most likely be a massive hit. Each of the endings from Part I and Part II kept the audience craving for answers. “The film ends with Regan’s implant still broadcasting, hinting that humanity may be able to turn the tide against their attackers after all. Assuming they don’t just retune their radios to avoid the horrible feedback, dooming themselves forever” (RadioTimes)The questionable ending leaves for a variety of ideas for part III. The ending song allows for a questionable understanding of what truly can happen to the Abbott’s, and how they will reconnect again.

The suspenseful thriller leaves the audience on the edge of their seats. The audience and reporters are hoping for a confirmed part III. Both movies seem to end with questions arising. The family faces struggles that one can only imagine, leading them down a path of hope for their future. Along with new characters being added into the mix.
