The infamous Zodiac Killer has at long last been discovered by a group of 40 former law enforcement investigators. He has been identified as a man named Gary Francis Poste, who passed away in 2018 at the age of 80 from various causes associated with age. Poste was alive for 50 years after his final murder and was never caught or charged for his crimes.
The Zodiac Killer killed five people in the San Francisco Bay area from 1968-1969. However, the main reason this notorious killer received so much notice from the public was the mysterious ciphers that he left. For years, investigators were unable to decipher some of these. Until now. The most recent cipher they figured out reads, “All the sooner because I now have enough slaves to work for me where everyone else has nothing when they reach paradise so they are afraid of death I am not afraid because I know that my new life is life will be an easy one in paradise death.” To translate this, the code-breakers needed to know Poste’s full name, making him a very convincing suspect. The investigators also think, “… Poste is ‘a very strong suspect’ in the death of a teenage girl hundreds of miles away that has never been linked to the Zodiac,” according to thesun.com.
Upon suspicion of Poste, the investigators spoke with his former neighbor, Gwen. After being shown the evidence found on Poste, she said, “1000 percent I do believe I grew up next door to the Zodiac.” She described how Poste was never violent towards her, but would sometimes hit his wife.
Although investigators don’t all agree on the identity of the Zodiac, most agree that the evidence is quite convincing. If Poste is the Zodiac, we can all take comfort in knowing he is unable to kill again.
