Best Christmas Treats to Bake

Christmas is right around the corner, and what is a better way to celebrate it than having multiple delicious treats sitting on your dining table? 

Throughout many years, families from across the world celebrate Christmas in a way where they prepare meals and desserts for gatherings. Additionally, everyone looks forward to eating their favorite Christmas treats especially when they bake them themselves. For example, the top favorite treats that are baked and served for Christmas would be hot chocolate fudge, eggnog cookies, sugar cookie bites, and snickerdoodle cookies. These particular cookies are worth baking for the holidays, especially during Christmas because they taste delicious and are easy to make. 

Here are four easy Christmas desserts to bake

  1. Hot Chocolate Fudge

This type of dessert treat combines the rich flavor of cocoa and chocolate fudge and has an easy recipe that makes everyone in the holiday spirit excited. Some people would add marshmallows to make the experience extra fun to savor the cocoa aroma. 

Additionally, it’s quite intriguing that hot chocolate powder doesn’t just provide us with a drink, but it could also be used as a recipe for making hot chocolate fudge.  

Ingredients needed according to Food Lovin’ Family:

  • 1 ½ cups of semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 ½ cups of milk chocolate chips
  • ¼ cup of unsalted butter 
  • 1 14 oz can of sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 teaspoons of vanilla extract
  • 2 hot chocolate packets
  • 2 cups of mini marshmallows

Recipe according to Food Lovin’ Family:

  • Step one: Grab a pan or casserole dish and parchment paper. Then, lightly spray non-stick cooking spray onto the pan and put the parchment paper on top to prevent the fudge from sticking.
  • Step two: Place chocolate chips and butter in a double boiler bowl that is sitting on a saucepan with water. Then, add sweetened condensed milk to the same bowl and mix them together.
  • Step three: Warm the double boiler along with the ingredients inside over medium heat. Make sure that the ingredients are stirred evenly making them melt.
  • Step four: Add chocolate powder to the bowl, then mix them together until everything is completely melted. Furthermore, add vanilla extract to the same bowl and mix it again. Gently pour 2 mini marshmallows into the mixture then stir once again. Then, pour the fudge into a prepared dish.
  • Step five: Pour the remaining mini marshmallows on top of the fudge and gently press them down to make them stick.
  • Step 6: Cover the dish with cling wrap and refrigerate it for 4 hours.

Finally, the hot chocolate fudge is done! You can cut it into squares and share it with your friends or family. What a holiday treat!

2. Eggnog cookies

This type of dessert is a big-time holiday dessert across the nation and it is sold in multiple stores such as coffee shops here in Phoenix including Starbucks, Human Bean, and Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. 

Some people may afford to buy these cookies that are located nearby; however, they can also be baked. To experience more of the holiday spirit, baking these eggnog cookies can get people in the Christmas mood!

Ingredients:

  • 2 ¼ cups of all-purpose flour 
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon 
  • ½ teaspoon of ground nutmeg
  • 1 ¼ cups of granulated white sugar
  • 3/4 cup of salted butter at room temperature
  • ½ cup of eggnog
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
  • 2 large egg yolks

  • Step 1:Preheat the oven to 325℉
  • Step 2: Grab a bowl, then put all of the dry ingredients onto the bowl including purpose flour, baking powder, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg. 
  • Step 3: Grab another separate bowl, then use an electric mixer to mix butter and sugar together. Once the two ingredients are perfectly combined, add the eggnog, vanilla extract, and egg yolks into the same bowl along with the butter and sugar, then beat these ingredients at medium speed until it is smooth.
  • Step 4: Take the bowl that contains the dry ingredients and pour it into the other bowl. Then, beat them all together at low speed until it’s fully blended.
  • Step 5: Grab a baking tray with parchment paper on top, then gradually take tablespoons from the batter then pour someone by one onto the tray. It’s optional to sprinkle eggnog on top of each batter, but it is recommended in order to savor more of the eggnog flavor.
  • Step 6: Place the tray carefully in the oven and bake it for 15 minutes.

Finally, the eggnog cookies are now ready to be served for the holidays!

3. Sugar Cookie Bites

This kind of cookie is fun to bake especially during the holidays because of the easy recipe that is in store for people to follow and make. Sugar cookie bites have such a sweet flavor due to the frosting on top that makes children feel excited to devour these delicious treats.

Cookie Dough Recipe according to My Incredible Recipes:

  • 2 cups of all purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon of salt
  • 1 cup of unsalted butter (room temperature)
  • ½ cup of confectioners’ sugar

  Buttercream Frosting Recipe according to My Incredible Recipes:

  • 1 cup of powdered confectioners sugar 
  • ¼ cup of unsalted butter (softened)
  • 1-2 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoons vanilla or almond extract (whichever is fine)
  • Red or green food coloring gels
  • Red, green, and white sprinkles

Recipe of Cookie Dough according to My Incredible Recipes:

  • Step one: Grab a medium-sized bowl and put the 2 cups of flour and ¼ teaspoon of salt. Then, whisk them together and set it aside for now.
  • Step two: Place the 1 cup of butter into the bowl of a stand mixer, then beat it until it is smooth for about 40-60 seconds. Then, add ½ cup of sugar and beat it until it is mixed. Cautiously add the bowl that contains the flour mixture and beat it again until the dough gets smoothed. 
  • Step three: Grab two sheets of parchment paper, then pour the dough into one of the papers, then put the other parchment paper on top of the dough to prevent it from sticking to the roller. Furthermore, roll the dough that is between the two pieces of parchment paper.
  • Step four: Remove the parchment paper on top of the dough, then transfer the dough along with the paper underneath it to a baking pan. Afterward, refrigerate it for at least 30 minutes or until the dough is firm.
  • Step five: when waiting for the dough to cool, preheat the oven to 350℉. 
  • Step six: Once the dough is finished cooling, remove it from the refrigerator and cut it into small bite-sized squares.
  • Step seven: After the oven is finished preheating, put the dough in the oven and bake it for 10-12 minutes.

Finally, the cookie dough is ready, and make sure it’s entirely cooled before putting in the frosting.

  • Step one: Prepare a large bowl and add the softened butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract, then mix them together well. If you want the frosting to be less dry, there is an option to add 1-2 tablespoons of milk and mix it until it is combined.
  • Step two: Divide the buttercream frosting into two parts. Then, tint one of them with red food coloring gel, and the other with green coloring gel.
  • Step three: Spread the buttercream frosting on top of each sugar cookie and sprinkle some Christmas-themed sprinkles.

This kind of cookie is what excites cinnamon lovers during the holidays because of its rich cinnamon flavor that combines a taste of spice and sweetness. Some people would try to bake this cookie due to its simple recipe and it is fun at the same time to bake this favorite treat during Christmas.

  • 1 ½ cup of white sugar
  • 1 cup of softened butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 2/4 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons of baking soda
  • ¼ teaspoon of salt

Coating:

  • 2 tablespoons of white sugar
  • 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon

  • Step one: Preheat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. Then, grab a baking tray and place parchment paper on top of it.
  • Step two: Grab a bowl, then Mix 1 ½ cups of white sugar, butter, and eggs together utilizing an electric mixer until the mixture is fully combined. 
  • Step three: Grab another separate bowl, then add flour, cream of tartar, baking soda, and salt in a separate bowl. Then, mix these ingredients together until it is smooth. Afterward, pour this mixture into the other bowl that contains the creamed butter mixture, then stir them together until the dough is combined enough.
  • Step four: Grab another separate bowl, then mix two tablespoons of white sugar and two teaspoons of ground cinnamon. This will serve as the topping for this snickerdoodle cookie. 
  • Step five: In order to form the dough, roll two teaspoon size balls in the sugar-cinnamon mixture and place these dough balls on the baking sheet. 
  • Step six: Place the baking sheet inside the oven and bake for about seven minutes. This may look doughy afterward; however, the cookies will continue to heat up for a while when it is out of the oven.
