The Thunderbird Varsity volleyball team had an amazing season. They had many big accomplishments. The volleyball team played in three tournaments. They also played 37 games overall. Glorie Van Dorn said, “ Overall our team did well in tournaments this season.” In the Valley Vista tournament, the team made it to the platinum bracket, which they had never done before. In the Goldwater tournament, the team won the tournament, playing 4 games in a row on day 2. Cecelia Bouchard said that the team’s record for the season was 16-1. In their region, they went 10-0 and were region champs for the second time in a row. The team played a pay-in match against Cactus and won in three sets. They moved on to the first round of playoffs. They played against Saguaro High School, and put up a tough fight. Sadly, they lost but had an amazing season. They met many of their goals and are very proud of how they did. Naomi Walsh, Malia Parris, and Allison Miller had a major achievement this season, according to Cecelia. Naomi Walsh broke the school record for blocks and still has more to come. Allison Miller hit 1,000 career digs and Malia Parris hit 1,000 career assists. This team has grown so much since their first practice, and they have done amazing things this season.
