“Invincible.” This is something we all wish we were. Sadly we are nothing but humans. We have flaws and we may not always make the best decisions, but this is not what defines people. We are resourceful, we are smart and above all we most likely want to be ‘Invincible’.
Amazon Prime’s animated TV show “Invincible” is based off of a comic created by Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley which goes by the same name as the TV show “Invincible”.
The comic and show’s story follows protagonist Mark Graysonas he learns how to use his powers to help others and grows into the hero he has always wanted to be.
In the finale of the first season, which gained high acclaim as the show was already doing amazingly while we watched as Mark truly shows the audience who he is and what makes him Invincible.
Story wise season two kicks off with the world of Invincible picking up the pieces from the aftermath of the season one finale. In the first episode of season two we watch how Mark slowly eases into becoming a hero again, partly blaming himself for what happened. This is a recurring theme in season two as Mark and his mother Debbie deal with the stages of grief caused by what happens in season one’s heart wrenching finale.
Over time, the story starts the season’s overarching plot which will span into the second half with Angstrom Levy. This will be one of Mark’s major antagonists causing him much trouble in the future.
Overall, this first half of the second season does not disappoint when fixing problems that had been brought up by fans last season. In an interview with the TV Insider, Robert Kirkman, follows up on fans’ hate for Amber in the first season by commenting,” I think the reaction to Amber was very unfortunate” in the second season Amber is more forgiving with Mark instead of always being upset with him. This change would make many fans happier with the character.
This first half of season two was a spectacle to many with ign.com rating the first episode as a 8/10.
The main problem that arises with this season and upsets many fans is the wait time from the first season to the second season of “Invincible”. The first season would end in 2020 while the second season would only release the first four episodes in 2023. This would leave many fans upset about the long wait for only a half of a season.
This would not upset all of the fans though as in response Prime Video announced Invincible would be returning in January of 2024. Although season two has had some controversy as to whether the full season should have come out or not it is still a very well made follow up to season one of “Invincible”.
Overall season two of Invincible on Amazon Prime Video is an amazing 4 episodes that will have the audience begging for the next season.
