A fan of Taylor Swift died before her concert in Janeiro Brazil on November 17th, 2023 according to the Brazilian newspaper Fohla de sao paolo the young woman Ana Clara Benevides Machado, was only 23. 

The publication claimed a fan had fainted at the concert because of the extremely hot weather. She then later died. Taylor Swift confirmed her death on her Instagram account. “Taylor Swift has said she is devastated after a fan died before her concert in Rio de Janeiro Brazil, on Friday night. In a statement on Instagram, the pop star said her heart was shattered, adding “‘She was incredibly beautiful and far too young.’” 

Noor Nanji, a culture reporter said, “During the ‘All-Too-Well’ performance, Taylor Swift was seen throwing water bottles at fans out in the crowd because of the extreme heatwave. The stadium banned all water bottles from the concert. Brazil justice minister Flavio Dino posted on Twitter that fans should be allowed to bring water to the concert. Said Noor. “He ordered the company organizing the eras tour in Brazil T4F entertainment to provide fans with free and easily accessible drinking water.” 

Taylor Swift then postponed her second show in Brazil because of the extremely hot temperatures in Rio de Janeiro after the fan’s death. She sent a message out about this on social media. The pop star shared a handwritten note to her Instagram followers: “I’m writing this from my dressing room in the stadium. The decision has been made to postpone tonight’s show due to the extreme temperatures in Rio,” Swift says. “The safety and well-being of my fans, fellow performers, and crew has to and always will come first.” 

Family, friends, and fans were left in ruins by this news. Brazilians were also surprised by the young woman’s death. Before her passing, she shared many videos and photos. “Benevides’ death shook many people in Brazil. She had taken her first flight ever to travel from the country’s center-west region to Rio to see her favorite musician. She also created a WhatsApp group to keep her family updated, sending photos and videos every step of the way” Family members told online news site G1. Taylor Swift then met with the young woman’s family at the Allianz Parque in São Paulo. She took photos with them wearing shirts in memory of Ana. 

She donated to the lady’s parents and invited them to meet her at the next show in Brazil also covering all the travel expenses. “The Times confirmed that Swift invited Benevides’ family to meet her at the show, covering travel expenses and making a donation to her parents,” said Jeremy Childs, staff writer for the Los Angeles Times.
