Thunderbird’s maintenance crew has worked hard to keep the campus well maintained and ready for every student’s school day.
The maintenance crew contains many different workers who have specific jobs. Some work on the fields mowing grass or preparing for games while others clean areas like the cafeteria or quad. There is also a plumber to fix objects like pipes, a carpenter to work on items like broken chairs or desks, and an electrician to repair things like wiring and work on lighting.
However, those in the group are never limited to just one task. If someone in the group gets overwhelmed by their workload, others in the crew come to help them. Steve Waymire, facilities administrator, states that the way the group works together is almost like a family. Mr. Waymire also said that: “. . . a lot of the workers at other schools hear about it and they want to transfer here because of that.”
Some of the people in the maintenance crew at Thunderbird High School arrive on campus as early as 4:30 a.m, with the latest one coming in at around 8:00 a.m.The night crew arrives at 2:00 p.m. and they stay as late as 10:30 p.m.to clean and organize the classrooms.
The group contains some of the most hard-working people on campus, and it is imperative that they receive the attention and appreciation that they deserve.
