Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj are infamous rappers known for their memorable lyrics. The two icons began as friends, however, this friendship soon shifted to hatred. The two infamous artists went from making songs together to making songs against each other.
Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj had made a song together in 2019 labeled “Hot Girl Summer”. This song became vastly popular due to the app called TikTok. As billboard.com states, “Megan Thee Stallion banks her first top 10 on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs as ‘Hot Girl Summer’ debuts at No. 7 and opens at No. 11 on the Hot 100.” This song paved the way for collaborations in the music industry because of its popularity.
The friendship between Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj turned to feud when Megan released a series of songs featuring Nicki’s rival, Cardi B. These infamous songs are labeled as “Bongos” and “WAP”. As latimes.com states, “Cardi B’s fourth No. 1 single and Megan Thee Stallion’s second, “WAP” was powered in part by a splashy music video featuring cameos by Normani, Rosalía and Kylie Jenner…” This collaboration was infamous and brought fame and fortune to both Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B. As a result of this success, the song “WAP” was criticized by Nicki Minaj. On Twitter (now known as X), Nicki is reported saying, “You can give out millions in cashapp money tho.” states hiphopDX.com. In this, Nicki is coming after the “WAP” campaign for allegedly stealing the sales of Nicki’s “100 Barbz” contest. After this, the relationship between Megan and Nicki slewed.
On January 26, Megan Thee Stallion released the song labeled “Hiss”. In this song, Megan comes after Nicki Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty. In “Hiss”, Megan is quoted saying “Aye, these **** don’t be mad at Megan, these **** mad at Megan’s Law”, according to genius.com. Megan’s Law is a legal term used to “Mandate public disclosure of information about registered sex offenders when required to protect the public,” according to smart.ojp.gov.
Nicki Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty was supposed to register as a sex offender; however, he refused. This is because as marca.com states, “In 1994, he faced a first-degree rape charge after a 16-year-old girl accused him of sexually assaulting her at knifepoint. Though initially denying the accusations, Petty ultimately pleaded guilty to attempted rape, serving over four years in prison and being mandated to register as a sex offender.” As vulture.com states, “Petty failed to register as a sex offender in Los Angeles, and as a result he has been sentenced to probation and house arrest, as well as a fine of $55,000.”
After the release of Megan Thee Stallion’s “Hiss”, Nicki Minaj was quick to compose a comeback. Nicki turned to Instagram live in order to make fun of Megan. On Instagram live, Nicki calls Megan names such as “BigFoot”. Additionally, Nicki is reported calling Magan a “Pathological & manipulative liar” as well as a “Disgusting serpent” according to businessinsider.com. Nicki, then took this argument to a new level by creating a diss track against Megan labeled “Big Foot”. This title was based on an altercation occurring in July, 2020, where Megan was shot in the foot by the rapper named Tory Lanez. Additionally, Megan is 5’10, making her taller than most females. Because of this, she is reported to wear a U.S. size 10 in womens according to selectiveshoe.com.
This diss track was heavily criticized by fans of both Nicki Minaj and Megan Thee Stallion. This is because Nicki made a low blow at Megan for being shot in the foot, as well as making fun of Megan’s height. Additionally, Megan is more than comfortable with her height as she is quoted saying “…Still get any man I want.” according to hotnewhiphop.com.
As Nicki Minaj states in her diss track labeled “Big Foot”, and is quoted saying “She like six foot, I call her Big Foot.” as stated by genius.com. Students from Thunderbird High School see the drama between Megan Thee Stallion and Nicki Minaj as entertainment.
