On October 1st, the Thunderbird choir had their first concert of the year. With excellent performances from the vocal ensemble and soloists alike, the concert was a great experience for students to watch.
The halloween theme of the concert was a nice opening to the month of October. “Our first concert of the year is always in October, I’ve always wanted to do a Halloween theme concert,” says Charlotte Bird, choir director and teacher. The concert kicked off with an excellent performance of ‘Someone Came Knocking’ from the beginning choir. After a few group songs, three of the soloists, Evelyn Munoz, Natalie Colwell, and Addie Lavder began. “‘The Ballad of Jane Doe was my favorite performance,” says Levi Reynolds, freshman.
Overall, the concert went very well. Thanks to Jamie Bauer-Spano’s techies, the sound quality was smooth and had no errors. All of the choir groups were excited to perform, “I feel like we did pretty good…I was so excited for the concert. Everyone was so hyped up, it’s our first concert, I just feel so excited with them,” says Khezia Sedeste, member of the beginning choir. Bird was also noted to be very proud of her five soloists that performed. “The vocal ensemble has a huge range…The soloists are always from the vocal ensemble because I always know they will do a good job,” stated Bird. The concert also had great reviews from students that attended. “9/10, the seats weren’t very comfortable, but the performances were very interesting.” said Reynolds.
The choir concert was a huge success because of the contributions of everyone involved, including the amazing soloists, the vocal ensemble, and the director.
