MrBeast, a famous YouTuber, is being sued by former contestants of a show he was filming for Amazon called “Beast Games”. Beast Games is a reality TV show being made by MrBeast. Beast is being sued for several reasons, including sexual harassment, and emotional distress.
MrBeast is a YouTuber who started gaining traction on Youtube in 2017, with his videos consisting of challenges, cash prizes, and giveaways. His videos appeal to a vast audience, the average view count per video being 89.4 million according to Rolling Stones. As of now, he has an impressive subscriber count of 318 million. His content was seemingly innocent to his viewers until recent accusations from former contestants have come to light.
MrBeast is being sued because the conditions in his show “Beast Games” were unsafe, according to Rolling Stone. Challenges consisted of games like trivia, bribes to eliminate others from the competition, and knocking down toy towers with dodge balls. The winner would then be rewarded with five million dollars.
According to contestants, MrBeast’s production company and Amazon MGM studios provided an environment that preminted practice of sexual harassment and a hostile work environment. According to AS News, the contestants claim they were “severely mistreated, neglected, and suffered emotional distress.”
Contestants are also claiming they were not paid and the ”Beast Games” were falsely advertised. According to the New York Times, there have been ”several hospitalizations and some contestants left the area on stretchers.” Showing MrBeast is inconsiderate and acts like he cares about the contestants but in reality he doesn’t and he only cares about himself.
The contestants allege their meals were given sporadically and sparsely, and weren’t given their medication on time. They also stated that the conditions were dangerous and endangered their health and well being since it took place in the Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, during the summer of 2024.
Both Amazon Studios and a MrBeast spokesperson declined to comment. CBS News have also reported about the previous allegations against MrBeast. These allegations involve racist and inappropriate comments, and mental abuse during challenges.
