On Jan. 22, many were left anguished and frightened after 17-year-old Solomon Henderson shot a gun in his high school cafeteria. At 11:09 am, Henderson fired 10 shots in 17 seconds, killing 16-year-old Josselin Corea Escalante and wounding others before turning the gun on himself. Within minutes, police received many calls about the situation.
Some of the incident was live streamed on KICK, a website that allows people to watch and broadcast in real time. As a result, the video was banned from the platform. Police report that Henderson was possibly in contact with 15-year-old Natalie “Samantha” Rupnow, who is better known as “the Abundant Life Christian School shooter.” That shooting happened on Dec. 16, 2024, weeks before the Antioch High school shooting; two were confirmed dead and six were injured.
