Link Crew is looking for fresh new faces for their mentoring program! Link Crew is a club on campus run by English teacher Anthony Rivera, and its main focus is to guide freshmen so they can have a successful four years at Thunderbird High School.
Members are responsible for building closer relationships with the freshmen class, as well as organizing school events pertaining to freshmen, checking in on them regularly, giving advice, or just being their friend. Link Leaders meet on the first day of school to give freshmen a tour of the campus, and they show them their first class. Leaders are also there to answer any questions freshmen may have about their schedules or the school. The requirements for this club are minimal. According to Rivera, Link Crew sponsor, students must have passing grades, and they must be sophomores or juniors. Additionally, members will receive training on campus by Link Crew Leaders and Rivera.
Not only do the freshmen benefit from this club, but the members do as well. Members have the opportunity to connect and build closer relationships with their peers, learn leadership skills, and make new friends. Alice Cave, Link Crew Leader, states, “I benefited from Link Crew by making tons of new friends and becoming more social.”
Members host events exclusively for the freshmen class. Link Crew needs new members to help run and host these events. Some of their past events have included a study hall with snacks, orientation on the first day of school, and selling paper roses.
Students interested in joining can find applications outside of Rivera’s classroom, H206, or they can click on this link.
