Two teens were left in critical condition after an ATV accident on Feb 6. around 5 p.m., near 47th Avenue and Cholla Street.
The teenagers crashed into an empty canal, falling roughly 30 ft. down into it. First responders arrived at the scene and found the vehicle flipped. Both teens were taken to the hospital in critical condition where one of the boys, Noland Coffland, was pronounced dead. Hunter Strode died a few days later in the hospital.
Coffland was riding with best friend Strode till the incident happened. Police say that they lost control and crashed. They both attended Centennial High School and were on the high school football team. Coffland was a junior, and Strode was a senior. Their friends and family are devastated. The school had organized a memorial for the two by their parking spots at their school. Each of the teens’ families set up obituaries online for their remembrance.
