Pop artist The Weeknd, cherished and popular to many THS students, has disclosed his plans for his last tour using the stage name.
On Jan. 31, the Canadian singer announced plans for his 2025 stadium tour, After Hours Til Dawn. According to Music Talkers, the tour will include songs from his recently completed album trilogy, After Hours, Dawn FM, and Hurry Up Tomorrow, respectively.
This trilogy marked the end of his time as The Weeknd. The Weeknd’s last album in the trilogy, Hurry Up Tomorrow, dropped on Jan. 31. The final track on the album, also titled “Hurry Up Tomorrow,” transitions back to his first song on his first album, “High for This,” creating a loop of his discography and marking the end of his well-known moniker.
During an interview with W magazine, The Weeknd said, “I still want to kill The Weeknd … I’m definitely trying to shed that skin and be reborn.” He will abandon his stage name and return to his Ethiopian birth name, Abel Tesfaye. He admits he wants to “close The Weeknd chapter” and kill the alter ego while continuing to make music under the new title.
