Beloved actor Gene Hackman was recently found dead in his house along with his wife, Betsy Arakawa, and their dog.
Hackman was found at the bottom of a staircase, according to cbsnews.com, while Arakawa was found on the opposite side of the house in one of their bathrooms. In the same bathroom as Arakawa, the pair’s dog was found inside of a closet, according to Adan Mendoza, Santa Fe County Sheriff.
On Feb. 17, almost a week before their bodies were found, Hackman’s pacemaker recorded his last movements. Many officials speculate that this very well could have been his last day alive. “According to the pathologist, I think that is a very good assumption, that that was his last day of life,” said Mendoza.
Overall, Gene Hackman was a wonderful actor and his talent will not be forgotten. His most memorable performances include Jimmy Popeye Doyle in The French Connection, as well as his portrayal of Little Bill Daggett in Clint Eastwood’s Unforgiven. Both performances won him an Academy Award: Best Actor and Best Supporting Actor, respectively. Hackman also starred as Norman Dale, head coach of Hickory High School’s basketball team in the 1986 classic, Hoosiers.
