A popular Netflix show, Alice In Borderland, was confirmed for season three later this year in September, and I couldn’t be more excited.
Recently, Netflix dropped the official trailer for season three, being met with mixed reception. Mrs. Charlotte Bird, the choir teacher, is skeptical but excited. She said, “On the one hand, I really enjoyed the first two seasons, and if it maintains its quality, then I am very excited for season 3.” Still, she is skeptical as the manga, on which the show is based, ends with season two, so season three will be written by Netflix staff. Alice in Borderland has only released 16 episodes in the last four years.
The main character is Ryohei Arisu. Arisu and his friends, Chota and Karube, are transported into an emptied version of Tokyo and forced to play deadly games to survive. Along the way, Arisu meets more characters, like Usagi, a very athletic girl, Chishiya, a brilliant guy, and Kunia, a player who prefers Club games but her father made her switch to Spade games, who later joins him in finding a way out of the Borderland.
As they wander aimlessly in abandoned Tokyo, they find a building with bright lights and enter only to find phones. Arisu and his friends pick up the phones and enter into a game. Once the game starts, a card with a number and a suit appears on the screen. The difficulty and type of the games are based on the card number and suit: Diamonds for intellect, Spades for strength, Clubs for cooperation, and Hearts for betrayal. Some people have king, queen, and jack cards, and they are the main villains. “The two games that really stand out to me were the King of Diamonds and the Jack of Hearts, both of which featured Chishiya using his brain to figure out a problem,” said Bird about the games. My favorite game is Tag from Season 1, Episode Two. The players have 20 minutes to find the “safe zone” and hide from the “oni,” or the person who is it. If they are found, they are killed by the dealer or the cardholder of the game.
And the only information released about season three is from SCREEN RANT. Netflix staff might bring back “the coolest game that the Netflix show ignored,” the original Three of Clubs game. The show’s first episode was titled “Alive or Dead,” but in the manga, the game is called “Good Fortune, Bad Fortune.” In the manga, players must draw a card and answer a question based on the card they pulled, which indicates either “Best Luck, Good Luck, Little Luck, Bad Luck, or Terrible Luck,” and in this game, if they get a question wrong, several flaming arrows will come at they and they have to run, and the number of arrows grows each time they get the question wrong. The reason Netflix changed this game to “Alive Or Dead” is speculated to be because of budget costs and animation problems, according to SCREEN RANT.
Alice In Borderland set a record for most hours viewed in a week after the second season was released in 2020, with over 61.2 million views, and rose to the top spot on Netflix’s Global Top 10 list of most watched series (non-English category) according to HYPEBEAST.
