60 students in the CTE Sports Medicine classes visited Grand Canyon University yesterday, Tuesday, October 14th. We received a campus tour and saw various classrooms and departments on campus. The students were introduced to many different health-science-related programs available at GCU. We also saw some of the living arrangements, as well as the various restaurants and other amenities on GCU’s campus.
After the tour, the students had the unique opportunity to view human cadavers at their cadaver lab. In small groups, the students went into a room where a medical student gave a 20-minute presentation with an actual human cadaver. For a few students, it was a bit too much, and they had to step out, but the majority of the group were fascinated by receiving a first-hand look at a lot of the information that they had been learning in the classroom this semester. The trip ended with GCU supplying the students with meals from either Qdoba, Chick-fil-A, or Panda Express at no cost to us. It was a great experience for everyone involved.
