A badly decomposed body was found in the front trunk of musical artist d4vd’s Tesla on Sept. 8 in Los Angeles.
Recently, the Los Angeles Police Department identified the body as that of missing 15-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. When her body was found, it was in a bag, and it was so badly decomposed that police couldn’t immediately identify it. Rivas was from Lake Elsinore, Calif., and she went missing when she was in seventh grade back in April 2024. She hasn’t been seen since June of the same year. Her body had a tattoo on the right index finger that said, “shhhhhhhh,” matching one of d4vd’s tattoos in the same spot. She got the matching tattoo after she went missing.
D4vd was on his Withered World Tour, but it was canceled due to the ongoing investigation. In addition, the singer made an abrupt move from his home after “police raided the property on Sept. 17 as part of an ongoing investigation” into the remains of Rivas Hernandez, according to yahoo.com.
How Rivas Hernandez was killed is still unknown. “The girl, Celeste Rivas, was identified through forensics,” according to nbcnews.com. The family of Rivas Hernandez has been largely quiet, but on a GoFundMe site, which has raised over twenty-four thousand dollars, the GoFundMe states ‘’As many of you know, Celeste Rivas Hernandez has been identified as the body found last week. She was a beloved daughter, sister, cousin, and friend. Her family is heartbroken and devastated by this tragic loss,” according to ktla.com.
Recently, the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner released Rivas Hernandez’s body back to her family. “The funeral was held at Queen of Heaven Cemetery & Mortuary in Rowland Heights, with the outlet posting photos of family members carrying the teen’s casket to her final resting place,” according to ktla.com. The funeral was on Oct. 6.
