Helene showed up around Asheville, North Carolina out of nowhere catching many people off guard and killing more than 240 people.
“You’re driving past cities and you can smell the dead bodies,” said Jazmine Rodgers, a consultant who has been volunteering to help neighbors in the hard-hit city of Asheville. Helene hit Asheville and a week later”,” the whole town smelt like death with bodies still going missing left and right.
Many people have stated how they had to move due to the smell. “My daughter got sent to Lowes to help rebuild it. They found a 9 year old girl just floating in the building.” said Dorretta Kennedy”,” North Carolina z”resident.” Many people are in extreme agony from seeing lifeless bodies and just hoping to find their families and build their state back up. Fox News stated, “11 deceased family members lived in several houses beside each other, which the mudslide crushed when it came down the slope of the mountain near their homes.”
People all around North Carolina are looking forward to going to Asheville and helping those who are in need. Kennedy then stated, “ Many people that had worked at Lowe’s are going more than 40 miles to reach out to states around them.” It was stated on Fox News while Trump was in Georgia that he was starting a gofundme with Elon Musk to raise money to go to the victims of Hurricane Helene. “President Donald J. This money has ended up helping many people and encouraging people to keep going through all their pain and losses.
Molly Smitten, resident in North Carolina commented “ Many people had come out and just loved us and made us feel heard. I honestly never felt this much help from people in America in awhile. ” Surprisingly North Carolina got hit worse than some cities in Florida like Davenport.
Thunderbird sophomore Karisma Lopez had stated,“My friend had said that he barely got hit. He had light rain and some major wind but nothing was destroyed. ”As the hurricanes keep coming through, people’s bonds tend to grow. They start to gather as a community to get through the hurricane as a team. “When a community comes together to help each other in times of great need, they become a beacon of hope and create bonds that last far beyond the crisis. There is power in unity and compassion, and Convoy of Hope is honored to be a part of that.” said Pastor Phil in North Carolina. Hurricane Helene took many lives and devastated the south states. As people move on they continue to gather and rebuild what they can.
