Tekken 8 is the latest fighting game by esteemed Japanese developers Bandai Namco and the latest in the Tekken series.

The Tekken series has slated its legacy amongst other legendary fighting games such as Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter with its unique story, characters, and dynamic 3D fighting system, gaining a strong fan base all over the world.

Tekken 8’s story, “The Dark Awakens,” continues the epic tale spanning the last 30 years of the Mishima and Kazama bloodlines, as Jin Kazama tries to end the tyrannical reign of his father, Kazuya Mishima. With long-time patriarch Heihachi Mishima dead, Kazuya has assumed control of G-Corporation, a mega-corporation dealing in bio-genetics. After an awesome beginning sequence of a fight between Jin and Kazuya, Kazuya announces the re-opening of the King of Iron Fist Tournament to determine who deserves a place in the world under his rule.

Throughout the story, Jin must come to terms with his devil powers along with the sins of his past, (Mainly his actions in Tekken 6, where he used his place as head of Mishima Zaibatsu for world conquest).

Tekken 8 runs on the Unreal 5 game engine and looks absolutely phenomenal in both cutscenes and gameplay. The gameplay itself is smooth, dynamic, and easy to pick up for beginners. But for experts, the intricate combos and precise movements feel fun and rewarding to learn. The roster is varied with both new characters such as Reina, Victor, and Azucena, and returning ones such as King, Yoshimistu, and Paul Phoenix.

The game also features several single-player modes as well as online multiplayer. Arcade Quest is an RPG-styled mode where your customized avatar goes from place to place to try and become the best Tekken player there is, Super Ghost Battle is a mode where you can fight AI “ghosts” of yourself and other players, the arcade mode, and Tekken Ball, returning from Tekken 3. The customization for fighters is also top-notch, with fans online sharing their decorative skills on their favorite characters. Right now is a great time to be a fighting game fan, with new entries in Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, and now Tekken.
