Varsity softball made it to the playoffs for the first time in years. Coach Elizabeth Arnold said she felt excited rather than nervous going into the playoff game, and that she couldn’t ask for anything else.
As for the come-from-behind game against Bradshaw Mountain that got them into the playoffs, plenty of credit goes to Alicia Flores, starting pitcher, who “threw 10 strikeouts in 5 innings” according to coach Arnold, who added that “Addie Hodge closed out the game with a great 7th inning on the mound.”
Furthermore, several players won awards within the Skyline region. Catarina Beams, freshman, and Alicia Flores, sophomore, won the region’s offensive and defensive players of the year, respectively. Freshman Addison Richard (fielding) and sophomore Addie Hodge (pitching) garnered defensive honors in the region while juniors Hannah Casey and Maddy Vasquez grabbed second team honors. Finally, honorable mentions in the Skyline region were awarded to Thunderbird upperclassmen Alison Baird and Bri Nystuen.
All in all, this season has been great for the Titans despite their early exit from the playoffs. They won the Skyline Region (4A), and with six award-winning players returning next year, the future looks bright.

Amazing article! I especially enjoyed how you acknowledged each player and gave specific examples from the coaches and awards to give them the recognition they deserve.

Congratulations on having the softball team make it to the playoffs. I hope you guys make it again and keep having fun. Your pitcher is good if she did all of those strikeouts.
