The new season of track and field is about to begin. Track and field is a lively and active sport where students can take part in different events and meet new friends.
Athletes can do multiple events in track and field like hurdling, relays, and sprints. One of the track coaches for this year is Matt Nalette, and the head coach is Katelin Gill. There are around 30 athletes who have been showing up to preseason continuously. Preseason practices are from 3 p.m. to 4 .p.m Monday through Thursday, from all of January and into February. The actual season starts on Feb. 10, 2025.
To join track and field, students must pass all of their classes and have a physical done to make sure they are equipped to handle the multiple exercises and events. Students should also have a strong pair of running shoes to prevent serious injuries. A great running shoe is the Nike Maxfly 2. A cheaper option is the Adidas Sprintstar, according to the website RunRepeat.
Coach Katelin Gill said, “We are excited for the turnout when the season starts.” Additionally, she said many new athletes are joining, which will help the program grow. The program has expanded and it continues to grow more every year. And if someone can’t join, watching the events is also entertaining and they can also root for the Titans.
