After five silent years, The Neighbourhood has bounced back into the music world. Since the band’s August 2025 reunion announcement, they’ve gifted fans with almost an overwhelming amount of information.
However, their return isn’t just about music, it is about moving forward. The band confronted their past, honestly addressing the controversy surrounding drummer Brandon Fried, who had previously left following sexual misconduct allegations and substance abuse. Instead of pretending nothing happened, they explained in their reunion statement that Fried had been working on himself and that the band was choosing to move forward together. These actions have opened a sense of maturity and renewed energy for the future.
That energy grew even stronger after 3 new songs were released on Oct. 23: “OMG,” “Lovebomb,” and “Private.” Each song revealed a different mood from the emotional lines of “Lovebomb” to the heavy bass of “Private.” Then, on Nov. 14, their fifth studio album (((((Ultrasound))))) was officially released. The new songs include a perfect blend of sharp lyrics, layered guitars, and dreamlike tones.
As if the timing was planned for nostalgia, their new stage began around the 10th anniversary of their iconic album Wiped Out! So on Oct. 31, to celebrate, the band released an extended version of the album including demos, remixes, and four new songs. The familiar melodies next to the new tracks were like two worlds colliding in the best way possible.
However, it doesn’t just stop at new music. The Neighbourhood’s “The Wourld Tour” was announced on Nov. 3 with presales starting on the 5th and tickets out on the 7th. The tour is set to begin March 2026 in Austin, Texas and will travel through Europe, Asia, and Australia before concluding the tour in Los Angeles in October 2026.
Hoodlums, the band’s fanbase, at our school have been caught up in conversations about the new album as well. Annabelle Smith, freshman, says the band’s comeback brings back positive vibes and nostalgia. Another long time fan is Jasliene Sturdivant, junior, she explains how their new songs such as Lovebomb and Private give off such great energy and catchy tunes.
The Neighbourhood’s return carries more weight than just an album drop. People of all ages can relate to the emotions and feelings captured in the songs. All the roller coasters in life such as falling in love, figuring things out, or just getting through a rough day can all be related to their music. Their comeback is like bringing a new era and soundtrack for the next few years of everyone’s lives.
