U.S. President Donald Trump was inaugurated into office for the second time on Jan. 20, 2025. One year later, people from across the nation came together to protest the actions and policies of the Trump administration.
Originally planned by the Women’s March protest group, the walkout was joined by other noteworthy groups such as “50501, a progressive grassroots movement, with a coalition of national and local partners including Feminist, Free DC, and the Immigrant Rights Committee in Tampa,” according to fastcompany.

The plan was to have people from across the country walk out and flood the streets at 2pm this past Tuesday. This plan, however, has also been adopted by high school students in the United States, Thunderbird included. Gabby Carrillo, freshman, who was at the protest said it felt “interesting and crazy that [she gets] to experience this in [her] lifetime and not just [read] about it in a history book.” Students showed up to the protest with posters and Mexican flags that they held up in the air while chanting in unison.

The movement inspired many as they watched their classmates speak up for what they believed in while also watching history be written right before their eyes.
